Pymble Ladies' College - Upper School Common Room

Location: Pymble, NSW
Completion Date: August 2024
Cost: $1.5M
Engagement: Design through to Construction

The newly refurbished common room for students in the Upper School of Pymble Ladies’ College (Year 9 and 10) is a beautiful space that helps to promote kindness and inclusivity.

A variety of different zones have been created for socialising and study. Student wellbeing is enhanced through light and bright interiors that use natural materials and have a strong connection to nature.

Pastoral care and passive supervision were important aspects of the design, achieved through strategically locating staff office areas so that they have clear lines of sight to student areas and are accessible to students. All offices for staff have been positioned to maximize outlook, fresh air and sunlight.

The character of the existing building has been celebrated in the design through referencing the existing window arches in the seating nooks.
